Chinese golfers to test their mettle against the world’s best at Lake Malaren Shanghai Masters

• Golf's major winners past and present compete with Chinese pro's at inaugural event in Shanghai

The eagerly anticipated draw for the inaugural Lake Malaren Shanghai Masters event has been announced and presents some of the biggest challenges for the 15 Chinese and Asian golfers in elite 30 man field.

Veteran Chinese player and event ambassador Zhang Lian Wei is grouped in between US Open winner Rory McIlroy and world number two Lee Westwood at 10:50am. His name sake, and a player that many hope will emulate his achievements, Zhang Xin Jun will play alongside double British Open and PGA championship winner Padraig Harrington in the last group out at 11:00am.
South Korea's KJ Choi, one of Asia's most respected players and a multiple winner on the US PGA Tour, most recently at The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in May this year said, "For many of the Asian players here this week this will be a chance of a lifetime to be paired with major tournament winners. It is a chance for them to really set a gauge on their game and see what it takes to become a champion." Choi will play in group 7 starting at 10:30 with Hunter Mahan and China's Su Dong

The ever popular John Daly British Open and US PGA winner will be the first group to tee off at 9:30 together with Wu A Shun and Korean Noh Seung-Yul. Other groups will see winning Ryder Cup captain, Colin Montgomerie, Kevin Na and Tsai Chi Huang tee off in group three at 9:50am. Huang Wen Yi will face off against 2010 US PGA champion Jim Furyk and double US Open winner Retief Goosen in group 6 at 10:20am.

Part of the event concept put together by event organisers and hosts SRE Group is to provide the Chinese and Asian players the chance to compete against the worlds best players. The winner of the four day event will receive US$2 million and competition on the Jack Nicklaus signature course will be intense.
